The Comopolitan Co-operative Housing Society

A Brief History

Cosmopolitan cooperative housing society limited was established in 1925, prior to partition and registered in the same year in Bombay district wide registration number B-52 off 1925 dated 37-07-1925. The registered address of the office is opposite Mazar e Quaid, MA Jinnah Road (extension). The Muslim community of the society took charge around 1947 from its Hindu or outgoing management of that time.

 

About the property

The area of land acquired was 90,000 square yards from KMC in 99 years lease in 1927, and it is divided into two wings i.e. Wing-1 and Wing – 2 comprising 84 plots altogether in both wings.

There are 56 plots in Wing-1, comprising 62,177 square yards of land and 28 plots in Wing – 2 having 27,823 square yards of land allotted.

This is purely a residential society, proper layout plan was developed and all plots are allotted to its members and constructed between 1927 to 1929. The amenities 3 plots measuring 5348 square yards of Cosmopolitan Cooperative Housing Society Club were constructed in 1928.

 There were 16 evacuee bungalows in the society. Out of them five occupants of the bungalows and portions have become our society members and some of the bungalows have either changed hands of their owners or have died  but their legal heirs have not joined or applied for the membership of the society.
